Hiking in the East Bay

nic108_HikingInOakland When we moved back to Chicago from the Bay Area we made a promise to each other to travel back to the Bay at least once a year, twice if we could fit it in. The thing we we miss most is hiking. It just doesn't exist in the Chicago area, or at least not like the Bay. You can go 20, sometimes 10, minutes in any direction and you'll find an awesome trail. Complete with hills, trees, waterfalls, scenic views, sometimes Red Woods - you name it.

Pure nature.

After Des graduated in September, we took off for our annual visit to the Bay. Here are some shots from one of our treasured hikes.

There is nothing like jumping around on rocks and splashing in creeks to make you forget you are 4 months pregnant. I was in my own little world snapping photos, breathing in the fresh air, and enjoying the company of my good friends.

That pup you see there is Sagan, named after thee Carl Sagan, and is one of the coolest pups I know. Not to mention he is one hell-of-a rock climber. The man making a kiss-y face and looking hopelessly in love with Sagan is our very awesome friend Adam.

This stunning beauty is the one and only Ashley West Roberts. A friend and kindred spirit of ours. We stopped to enjoy the creek we stumbled upon, dipped our feet and washed our hands in the nice refreshing water.
